In 1969, the Stonewall Riots in New York City gave birth to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Civil Rights Movement. In the decades to follow LGBT communities and activists, from across the country, organized and protested in order to overcome homophobia and discrimination.
